Jennifer Wilson at Snowbird
Jennifer Wilson Cornice Jumping
at Snowbird, Utah, 1981

I was one of the very few ski photographers commercially active at the time, to routinely use a wide angle lens (24mm) to photograph ski action shots. I felt that lens gave me an immediacy of being in the photograph that was un-available with anything else. At one time or the other, I had all the skiers I knew jump off this cornice in the upper bowl at Snowbird, while I would hang out just below the lip waiting for their ski tips to leave the snow, cutting out into the air. Usually it produced some great shots, of which this shot with Jennifer is representative of. While she normally was not into being quite so daring, she was willing to try it for a chance at a good photograph. This shot was originally published in Powder magazine.
